The cherry on top of the mountain.

Located on the southern slope of the Serra da Estrela, in the beautiful village of Paul in the municipality of Covilhã, is the Cherry Sculpture Hotel.

  • The project was born from an old dream of local entrepreneurs that through tourism, nature, culture and religion, a unique and differentiating product would be created, thus positioning Paul as a tourist destination. As a tribute to the cherry, an endogenous product of Cova da Beira and as this region is the national leader in the production of this fruit, the name Cherry Sculpture Hotel appears, where you can find 13 rooms, 2 suites and 8 sculptures in the shape of this fruit. Have you ever thought about sleeping inside a cherry? Now you can... Our team welcomes you and wishes you a fantastic experiences full of emotions and unique experiences.

  • Cultivate the desire throughout the year, only to appear in a short period, insufficient to satisfy it. After millennia of discreet appearance among the green and white of flowering cherry groves, it now emerges - slender - exposing the supremacy of its design, the delicacy of its texture, the intensity of its color. Your entire being is design. Your entire design is perfection. All its perfection is light - light that the pinnacle design stroke radiates from the center of its existence. Immersed in one of the most desired sweets of all time, accustomed to landing on chocolate podiums - today, the cherry pays homage to the fruit of its existence - the countryside. Perfect, more than perfect. Here, the cherry on top of the mountain.

Pedro

I built Cherry Sculpture Hotel to be more than a place to sleep — it’s a sculptural retreat where people genuinely switch off. My focus is simple: real comfort, honest hospitality, and an experience rooted in the Serra’s calm and character.

  • The inspiration was realising how rarely people truly stop. I wanted to create a place where rest isn’t an afterthought — where the setting, the design and the pace make it easy to switch off. That idea became Cherry Sculpture Hotel: a sculptural retreat in the mountains that feels different the moment you arrive.

  • I want Cherry to prove that hospitality doesn’t need to be loud, wasteful, or copy-paste to be memorable. My goal is to normalise slower, more intentional travel: fewer distractions, more presence, more respect for place, people, and resources. If guests leave rested, more curious about the local community, and a bit more mindful about what “a good stay” actually means, that’s a lasting impact — on how we travel, and how we treat each other while doing it.

Art, comfort and mountain stillness

A one-of-a-kind stay where art becomes your room, set in the Serra’s quiet beauty. Unwind by the infinity pool, cosy up by the fire, and properly switch off.

  • We make sustainability the default, not a “green menu”. Guests are encouraged to reduce housekeeping frequency (towels/linen on request), use refillable water and amenities where available, and follow clear in-room guidance on sorting waste and saving water and energy. We also promote low-impact experiences—walking trails, local nature spots, and local producers—so guests can enjoy the Serra without unnecessary driving, waste, or high-impact activities.

  • We make it easy for guests to spend their time (and money) locally, not in generic “tourist traps”. We prioritise local suppliers and family businesses for food, drinks and services, and we actively direct guests to village-run cafés, artisans, and producers nearby. On top of that, we share a curated list of local spots and experiences (walks, nature points, local producers, small shops) and, whenever possible, connect guests with local guides/partners so the benefit stays in the community around Paul and Covilhã.

Hidden Beira Interior mountain retreat

Rua Dr. José Carvalha 71, Paul, Castelo Branco, 6215-328, Portugal

  • Paul is a small mountain village in Beira Interior, close to Covilhã and the Serra da Estrela, where life is quieter and more authentic. Guests get big landscapes, clean air, and direct access to walking trails, river and mountain scenery, and local viewpoints—without crowds. For locals, it’s a close-knit community with strong traditions, local producers, and a slower rhythm that still feels real. For guests, that translates into genuine hospitality, local flavours, and the kind of calm that’s hard to find in more commercial destinations.
