Community-focus: The Yard celebrates our neighbours and helps support each other to make sure we are living sustainably.
In our Front Yard and community space we have a salon, restaurant, cafe, record store, and a suit tailor. We also host pop-up events such as clothes swaps, produce markets and live music events. Other events and activities we have at The Yard include Muay Thai classes, tea ceremonies, and yoga to name a few. We also organise tours to support people and projects in our neighbourhood and Thailand that empower the local community.
Yard Hostel is a unique oasis in the city, offering great hospitality, chill vibes, and a strong community atmosphere. Most of our reviews speak about our friendly staff and good service. It is a cool, convenient and cosy hostel in a busy city.
In May 2014, we registered a local experience tour website to invite travelers to our home for dinner. Some guests wanted to stay overnight, seeking comfort and companionship, so we welcomed them even though we weren’t a hotel. Inspired by our love for hospitality, I (Little Som) quit my job in 2014 to start our hostel, The Yard. Though we had never stayed in a hostel, we focused on creating a comfortable and family-like atmosphere. In Thai, “Yard” means family, reflecting our belief that everyone is family. Since then, The Yard has hosted over 70,000 guests from 50 countries, growing our family ever larger.
Hospitality is in our name: \\”Yard\\” means \\”family\\” in Thai and every person who comes to our home is family. We created a place where guests from around the world could come and have meaningful conversations, learn from each other and how to take better care of the planet for future generations.
